Wiktionnaire:Conventions A couple VolkoBot shreds to deal with: rekenaar Svezia

deal with these words: March, currently entered as lower case for month. WRONG. move entry to uppercase, create lowercase entry, to march - rinne. Canada is not a German word. Remove that entry.

November - move.

check bot's order of entry for "rain". overtime

New priority one: This site's skins (meaning global css files) are totally screwed up.

(Hope we get an admin soon who knows how to fix that.)

Things for me to do:

Oeps. At least one of my friends didn't know that Seelter
nouns are capitalised like German. ;-)
oh, cripes. Gotta check the German nouns, too, it seems...

http://fy.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krookjes - snag the box template and create flower entries

Things to sort out when I find an administrator.

  • Easy things,
    Translate various help text
(which can be copied from the 'pedia site)
Create character insert pad for editing
    Improve template insert editing functions

More fundamental

  1. See priority one above
  2. Explain how entries are traditionally constructed: There is a main entry in the project's language. That entry contains all translations, and all related terms. Translations are grouped according to part of speech and if necessary, given a gloss on meaning.
So, for example, the Turksk translation of the word alfabet should appear in the entry for alfabet, rather than under the the Italjaansk subsection of the word alfabeto.
Perhaps a product of similar confusion: alfabet is actually not a valid word in Italian. (Click and you'll see the Italian wiktionary has no entry at all--even for foreign words.) And there are lots of translations in each subsection of the various language headings.
There should be one main heading for the Frysk meaning.
All translations of the word alfabet in other languages should be collected in the Frysk word's oersettings section. That's where the English/French translation alphabet should appear, as well as the Italian translation alfabeto, and all the other translations scattered throughout that entry and related entries.
Then there should be one main heading for each language where the word alfabet is actually a valid word in that language--regardless of whether that word actually means alfabet. (Example: If alfabet meant flinter (English:butterfly) in some language called Winterspeak, alfabet would contain an entry saying: "Winterspeak ... Haadwurd ... flinter". The translations--the words for flinter in every other language of the world--would not appear there under Winterspeak/alfabet, but here in the Frysk entry for flinter.)

(Did the bot stuff. And without help!)

  • Explain the concept of subsections for entries.
I think maybe some of these problems are because people are using some (really great!) templates that they don't realise should be substituted (subst:). When they're not, then you don't get the equals signs recognised in the text, because they're expanded only when the TOC routine does its thing. For example, "bywurkje seksje" is missing from every entry in the Ynhâld here. An ingenious solution to the problem has been worked out, in the form of a NOEDITSECTION tag. Unfortunately, that disables editing for the entire document.
  • Implement templates for collapsed entries. Some of the long translation sections are really too unwieldy. But see if others agree that we could try to improve on the English site, which overdoes collapsing, and collapses too many things separately, making some articles a pain to use.
